Great Bedwyn School is a village school that values standards and achievement
Great Bedwyn is a village primary school, near Marlborough, set at the heart of a rural community. We currently have 205 children on role from 4-11 years old. The school building is modern with spacious grounds and is well resourced and maintained.
The ethos of the school is based on kindness and care. Our aim is that all children are valued and supported so that they develop confidence and are able to achieve their full potential in all areas of school life. As a Church of England school, we also aim to promote Christian values and encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith within a diverse society.
Our current OFSTED report classified us as an ‘Outstanding School’ in all areas with the academic attainment and achievement of the children being consistently high. We have recently gained the status of a National Support School. We have also been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark and Investors in People.
We have a lively and exciting skills based curriculum which is taught using a termly topic based approach. The freedom of our creative curriculum allows us to diversify into subject themed weeks which celebrate, for example, the arts, cultural diversity and design technology.
The school has worked hard to achieve a variety of prestigious awards which reflect the strengths of the topic based approach.
Varied arts opportunities including dance, drama, singing, specialist artists and continued high level curricular teaching and learning, have enabled us to maintain the Gold Artsmark for the last 4 years.
Our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, providing an assortment of sporting opportunities and focus on developing ‘well rounded’ and happy individuals has contributed to us achieving the Active Mark and Healthy Schools Award and becoming a lead SEAL school.
